Arithmetic from A + B: 3,000 billion ÷ 400 billion = 7.5. Even at the highest star estimate, trees outnumber stars by 7.5×. At the low-end estimate (100 billion), the ratio is 30×. No additional source required — follows directly from the verified figures above.
What we refused to claim
"Trillions of trees" as a live, current count. The 2015 figure is a model-based snapshot; approximately 15 billion trees are lost annually (net decline per Crowther et al. 2015). The script does NOT claim a current count — it attributes the figure to scientists and says "about three trillion," signaling a known estimate. Even after ~11 years of net loss (~165 billion trees), Earth's forests still hold roughly 2.8 trillion trees — still at least seven times the high-end star count.
Exact precision of either number. Star counts carry large uncertainty bands; the tree count is a model estimate from ground + satellite data. The script uses "about" (trees) and "at least seven times" (comparison) to hedge appropriately.
